My name is Patricia and my mission is to get the word out about childhood gender nonconformity. I have been a professional in Child Care for the last 25 years as a Daycare owner, Paraprofessional, Mentor and Rainbows facilitator. I am currently a Nanny for two amazing young boys a 5 yr. old who is Gender-Variant and his Non G.V. two-year old brother.
As anyone who is raising a Gender-Variant child knows there are a lot more questions than there are answers for both the child and adult. The emotional upheaval and the scary unknowns of raising a Gender-Variant child can be overwhelming and isolating to the whole family but especially to the child. That is why, along with my “Client Mother” we decided to start Accept. Accept is a support group for families with G.V. children 12 and under. This is an opportunity for Princess Boys and Strength Girls to have a playdate with other Gender non-conforming boys and girls in a safe environment. The meetings will allow parents and/or primary caregivers a chance to meet and discuss different gender related topics or listen to a guest speaker. The meetings will last approximately 90 minutes at a centrally convenient location in Chicago.
The initial meeting is scheduled for, Saturday, May 21,2011 at 10:00 a.m. For more information and/or to register for this event you can reach me at – firstname.lastname@example.org or (847)477-2080, serious inquiries only please.
